EDUVAC’s Educational Enrichment Vacation programmes are an all-encompassing vacation for young learners where career subjects such as Space, Science, Engineering, History, Architecture, Production, Marketing, Sport, Film and Tourism, are teamed with a fun learning vacation experience.


 


Space, Science & Engineering


 


The National Space Centre, Leicester, UK




 


With six interactive galleries, the UK’s largest planetarium, unique 3D Simulator Experience and the iconic 42m high Rocket Tower, the award-winning National Space Centre is an out of this world experience. 


The visit to the National Space Centre includes interactive learning workshops and a specially designed ‘Space Mission’ for the young learners. The Challenger Learning Centre is one of only two educational space mission simulators of its type outside North America, and children are presented with tasks and realistic dilemmas that build problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills throughout the Space Missions, from both Mission Control and the Space Station. The Space Missions have been specifically adapted by the University of Leicester to meet the educational needs of our Young Learners.


 


The Science Museum, London




The Science Museum is a major museum on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, London. It was founded in 1857 and today is one of the London’s major tourist attractions, attracting 3.3 million visitors annually. Interactive and thought-provoking, the Science Museum is a great place for young learners to see, touch and experience science first-hand. The Science Musuem features seven floors of educational and entertaining exhibits, including the Apollo 10 command module and a flight simulator.


Learning is central to the Science Museum’s mission, and its unparalleled collection of objects is just the start. Revealing the beauty of the science and maths that shape our everyday lives, this unmissable experience will ignite the young learners curiosity, fuelling their imagination. Young learners will have the chance to take part in an interactive Space Station Workshop, giving them the chance to experience different aspects of living and working in space. When a problem hits the Station they'll need to observe, describe, test and select materials and equipment to build a space suit.


Filled to the brim with action and adventure, this fast-paced show gives young learners a glimpse into the variety of careers in the space industry and gets them excited about human spaceflight.


 


Williams F1 Grand Prix Engineering




Williams is one of the world's leading Formula 1 teams. It exists purely to race in the top echelon of motor racing, where it has been winning grands prix for more than three decades. A visit to their Conference Centre in Oxfordshire give children a unique chance to see some of the worlds finest engineering and motorsport achievements, followed by a tour of the Wiiliams F1 Museum. A preview theatre viewing will set the scene for the museum tour, followed by an Escorted tour of the Williams Grand Prix Collection, accompanied by an audio-visual commentary of the team's history and the stories behind the cars. A tour of the Technology Room which displays examples of the intricacies of Formula 1 engineering, including an early designed carbon fibre Monocoque, driven by Nigel Mansell, an FW22 gear box, raced by Jenson Button and a Tour of the Trophy Room which displays a selection of memorabilia relating to the team's nine Constructors' World Championship wins and some of the most prestigious trophies the Williams F1 team has won.


 


History & Architecture


 


The Natural History Museum, London




The Natural History Museum in Kensington, West London exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. Young learners will find answers to their big nature questions, delve into stories about the Museum's collections, scientists and research, and uncover the history of life on Earth, from the smallest insects to the largest mammals.


To compliment the visit to the Natural History Museum, young learners will take part in specially designed workshops and study shows, including The Darwin Centre’s Cocoon and The Attenborough Studio, with Educational Leaders giving talks on various topics, ranging from Volcanoes and Earthquakes, Cells and Genetics, to Human Evolution.


 


Exploring London: Big Bus Tour, River Boat & The London Eye




London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a 21st-century city with history stretching back to Roman times. At its centre stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city. The London bus tours present the capital's crown jewels, with endless chances to hop on, hop off and explore this fantastic city. Glimpse the Queen at Buckingham Palace, set your watch by Big Ben, or take a leisurely spin on the London Eye.

Cadbury World, Birmingham




With over 26 years' experience and more than 2,000 school groups attending each year, Cadbury World offers a unique experience that gives fascinating insight into the rich heritage of the UK’s favourite chocolate brand. A variety of zones showcase their history, chocolate making, and now include the 4D Chocolate Adventure cinema experience. Uncover a world of chocolatey delights and enjoy a fascinating, fun-packed day out at Cadbury World! You’ll learn how your favourite confectioneries are made, play in virtual chocolate rain, and add your favourite treat to a delicious pot of warm melted Cadbury Dairy Milk. Discover the origins of the cocoa bean, before hopping aboard the magical ‘Cadabra’ ride, and meeting the infamous Cadbury drumming gorilla!


Plus, join Freddo and the whole gang of Cadbury characters as they whisk you away on a wondrous journey in the 4D Chocolate Adventure cinema experience, complete with motion seats. Dive into a bowl of liquid Cadbury Dairy Milk, ride the Crunchie Rollercoaster and take to the skies in a Cadbury Creme Egg airship, piloted by the Caramel Bunny. 


The visit will be complimented with a one hour educational-linked talk, presented in their themed classrooms. Young learners will explore more about Production Technology and Food Science, as well as learning more about Business Studies and Marketing first hand from one of the worlds leading brands.


 


Sport, Film & Tourism


 


Chelsea Football Club, London




Chelsea Football Club is one of the most respected and recognised teams in the World. The tour of Stamford Bridge takes the children on a journey exploring behind the scenes of the football stadium including visits to the press room, dressing rooms and a chance to run our of the tunnel into the dug-out area. During our trip to their Stadium at Stamford Bridge, West London, children will also be able to visit The Chelsea Football Club Museum, and see for themselves a wealth of artefacts and team information that will compliment their learning.


 


 


Harry Potter: Warner Bros Studio, London




The Award Winning Tour of  the world famous ‘The Making of Harry Potter’ at Warner Brothers Studio in Leavesden, Greater London, gives children the chance to experience for themselves the breathtaking studios, authentic props and original costumes of one of the most successful film series of all time. Taking in the impressive film production of the Forbidden Forest, and the Hogwarts Express, children can step onto iconic sets such as The Great Hall, and Diagon Alley, and see the magic up close as they take a tour of the Art Department, and see how the Special Effects were created. Complimenting the fun will be a unique one hour lesson, planned and taught by qualified teachers in their purpose-built classroom. Children will experience learning in a distinctive environment that will inspire and engage them, their young minds will be stimulated as they discover the extraordinary artistry, technology and talent that went into creating the Harry Potter film series.


 


Legoland, Windsor


 


LEGO is the world’s most powerful brand, and fans of the bold colour building blocks stretch across the globe, from young children to adults. The Legoland Resort in Windsor is a unique childrens theme park, embracing all of the fun of this iconic company, with the park's attractions consisting of a mixture of Lego-themed rides, models, and building workshops. 


Fun at Legoland will be complimented by some unique learning workshops which are perfect for children to experience a fun, hands-on and engaging session hosted by their trained educational staff. All of their workshops utilise the world's finest educational play materials: LEGO® bricks and cover key curriculum targets including English, Computing and STEM. Workshop topics can cover anything from History, Underwater Creatures, Geography, Engineering, Science and Media.
